Boat & Yacht Insurance

Boats under 20 feet, like runabouts, fishing boats, or personal watercraft, are covered in the continental U.S. and Canada. We include coverage for equipment, towing and uninsured boaters. You will also receive a discount on your watercraft policy when you insure your home with Cincinnati. Coverage provides agreed value, but you can purchase actual cash value to reduce your premium.

For boats or yachts between 20 and 80 feet, you’ll get agreed value in the event of a total loss, subject to policy conditions. Receive coverage for your personal effects, vermin damage, emergency towing and assistance, wreck removal and search and rescue.

Cincinnati includes replacement cost coverage for partial losses, subject to policy conditions. You also receive coverage for damages you are obligated to pay due to liability under the Federal Jones Act, General Maritime Law and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act for any full- or part-time crew.

Additional coverage is available for your fine arts, essential papers, firearms or coverage for inspection of the watercraft after a covered loss, subject to limitations. Should you take on charters, you can extend your property and liability coverage for an additional charge. This coverage is for vessels $1 million in value or higher.

Our coverage for yachts over 80 feet, valued at $1 million or higher, include broad navigational limits and agreed value when you have a full-time captain or crew. You receive additional coverages to help protect you and your family, including coverage for:

• personal effects, fishing tackle and vermin damage
• towing and emergency expenses, search and rescue and wreck removal
• liability against bodily injury or property damage
• defense costs
• select environmental mishaps
• uninsured/underinsured watercraft
• charter coverage for property and liability
• reimbursement for charter for hire if canceled due to a covered loss
